City Gas focus on production of town gas

City Gas was established on 2nd January 2002 as a divested entity from PowerGas Ltd. Its core business is to focus on production of town gas and retail it island-wide to all residents as well as supply both town gas and natural gas to commercial and industrial sectors.

Today, City Gas is wholly-owned subsidiary of the CitySpring Infrastructure Management Pte Ltd (http://www.cityspring.com.sg/). Prior to the listing of CitySpring, City Gas was 100% owned by Temasek Holdings.

We have a long standing and proud heritage history of about 150 years and town gas was first produced at the former Kallang Gasworks. The Gasworks was officially retired in March 1998 to make the valuable land available for urban redevelopment.

To meet the rising demand for town gas, a S$240 million Gasworks with fully automated plant control system was constructed at Senoko to replace the Kallang Gasworks. The Senoko Gasworks consists of 5 cyclic and 3 continuous gas making plants with a production capacity of 1.6 million cubic meters of gas per day. Town gas is delivered to our customers through underground transmission and distribution networks which are monitored and controlled on a 24/7 time scale with a state-of-the-art Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System.

We have more than 2,600 kilometers of pipes network, providing town gas to more than 90% of new HDB estates, many private condominiums and landed properties as well as our commercial and industrial customers. Over 15,000 of our commercial and industrial customers are primarily from restaurants, food courts, hotels, food centre, food processing and manufacturing plants as well as printing industries.

The achievement of ISO 9001 accreditation and 24-hour Customer Services Centre attest our strong commitments in our continuous pursuit of service quality and supply reliability to our customers. We have also adopted Six Sigma as our key initiatives for quality management.

To further extend our touch points with our customers, City Gas Gallery was initiated to serve as a customer service center to handle any enquiries with regards to town gas installation and issues as well as a one-stop retail hub, featuring a wide range of gas appliances to meet our customers’ needs.

Leveraging on our strong legacy as the expert in providing town gas, we are also constantly taking fresh and modern approaches to provide comfort to the lifestyle of Singaporean and to power our business partners to operate at their peak performance at all times.
